Canadian oilsands are set to take the stage on Sunday as a key focal point in Leonardo DiCaprio’s new climate change documentary, Before the Flood.

The film’s director, Fisher Stevens, told press at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in September that he was “really horrified” at the sight of northeastern Alberta’s oilsands.

“Look, we all want work, we all need jobs — God knows. And it would be great if it was like: ‘Now, we take all of these people and we replant all of that forest.’ Wouldn’t that be amazing?” Stevens told the press at TIFF.
